How a copper concentrator replaced 240 m² of steel chute liner with UHMWPE in one shutdown.

A copper concentrator's primary transfer tower (between the SAG mill discharge belt and the secondary crushing screen) was running through Q235 mild-steel liner plates every 9 months. Each shutdown took 4 days and the liner replacement labour bill was higher than the steel itself.
22 days from drawing approval to FOB Qingdao. Customer cleared customs in Antofagasta in 9 days and installed during a planned 5-day SAG mill shutdown.
3 years later, panels show ~12 mm of wear out of 30 mm — projected 7-year service life vs the 9-month steel replacement cycle. Labour saved alone paid for the UHMWPE liners within 14 months.
UHMWPE is one-eighth the weight of steel — easier panel handling, faster installation, and no hot-work permits required on site. The slick surface also reduces choking and material build-up at the transfer point, improving mass-flow geometry.

Pre-drilled UHMWPE wear panels for transfer chutes, hopper interiors, surge bins and truck beds.
